    4 December 2012

    By John Ditchfield (Co-Chair, EIA)

The company, Blue Energy, based in Cheshire will be building a 155MW photovoltaic array at a cost of $400M. This will be the world’s fourth largest solar energy plant when the project completes in 2015. A large element of the project finance comes from Stadium group who were responsible for developing Meadowhall and have £2.5bn of assets under management.

The project Director, Douglas Coleman, commented that the decision to invest into emerging energy markets is because of the uncertainty surrounding domestic renewable energy subsidies.

Ghana is one of Africa’s fastest growing economies and expects to double its energy generation capacity between now and 2015.
